Help Us Save the Day This Holiday Season
Melissa and her two children set foot in Pittsburgh by way of a neighboring state. After being displaced by domestic violence, she found herself in an unimaginable situation. Melissa was unemployed and without income. Thanks to an area church, she stayed in a local hotel for a month. Despite her circumstances and all the challenges she faced, Melissa was determined to persevere, which is how she found her way to HEARTH.
Our program specializes in providing the help individuals need to be their best for their families, and Melissa was determined to build a better life.
Like all HEARTH participants, she was provided a fully-stocked apartment with a range of supportive services like the ones included below to help her take the guesswork out of where her family’s basic needs would come from and fight barriers that awaited in the outside world.
With one less worry, Melissa tended to her little ones. Both attended counseling provided by our partner Crisis Center North to cope with their past trauma and achieve mental and emotional wellness. They even picked out new clothing attire from HEARTH’s clothing closet.
Raising a family today requires more time, energy, and resources than ever before. However, Melissa continues to tap into her inner strength so that her family can thrive — emotionally, physically, and financially. Since joining the HEARTH community, Melissa has enrolled in school full-time and plans to achieve full-time employment with her newfound skills. Individuals like you have helped empower Melissa on her journey so far, and we call on you again for your support. This time of year celebrates community, warmth, and good tidings. All of which can be felt while giving back. Please consider a gift in support of HEARTH. With your help, we can spread hope and eradicate homelessness.
Less that a month until our special charitable giving campaign, sponsored and funded by Target, ends! Now through December 31, vote for us through the Target Circle program. Every vote counts as we continue our mission to eradicate homelessness.
