Hats Off to HEARTH 2023

On October 26th, 175 friends of HEARTH donned their best hats to celebrate and support our mission of providing a safe place for mothers and children who have experienced homelessness and domestic violence.

Hats Off to HEARTH – presented by Allegheny Financial Group & Arjun Kashmag Foundation in 2023 – provided guests with the unique and fun opportunity to taste a variety of the world’s most exclusive wines, paired with sweet and savory bites, for a good cause.

This phenomenal wine tasting was a great opportunity to raise a glass and honor HEARTH’s founders: Susan Talbot, Arlene Grubbs, and Valetta Ford. They first opened HEARTH’s doors to serve families in crisis in 1995. Their vision to address the need for housing and accessible services for mothers and children experiencing trauma continues to be our vision today.

Attendees learned firsthand the impact of their donations from Tabitha, who shared how HEARTH gave her and her children a safe place to heal and grow.  Tabitha’s son and mother were also able to attend Hats Off. Two HEARTH volunteers supervised her son while the ladies celebrated and enjoyed the evening together.

For the 22nd Hats Off to HEARTH, we introduced “passports” to the event to enhance the tasting experience. Attendees each received a passport that guided them through six different tables, each featuring a wine and food pairing from a different country. (For example, the Spain table had quesadillas and California had California rolls.)

The Hats Off 2023 event also featured the following:

  • A silent auction
  • Two wine-centric games (Wine Pull and Spin the Bottle)
  • Live music provided by a DJ and a violinist
  • A magician that was entertaining our guests
  • A fun photo booth

Thank you to our generous sponsors and attendees who raised over $100,000 to continue HEARTH’s mission.
