The yellow buses are on the streets, which means it is back-to-school time for the kids at HEARTH. Again this year, we were blessed by our community of volunteers and supporters, who came together to ensure our young scholars had everything they needed for a successful school year.

On Monday, August 21st, we hosted a Back to School picnic for our kids and moms to celebrate the last long days of summer and get excited for the new school year.

We enjoyed games and face painting with volunteers from Beverly’s Birthdays. Donors and volunteers from Brentwood Bank provided delicious food and school supplies. Thanks to their generosity, all our students were ready for the year ahead with pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, and calculators.

We’re thankful to all who supported this event, including longtime partners who share in our mission.

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) and the Centimark Foundation both provided backpacks, supplies, and back-to-school clothing.

The AIU’s support didn’t stop there, however, as they also provide literary kits for our children throughout the year! In addition, they coordinate transportation for any children who go to school outside of our district.

Homeless Children’s Education Fund also donated back-to-school supplies, along with visiting our families throughout the year to provide enrichment activities for our families.

A huge thank you goes out to all the donors and volunteers who came together to ensure that our kids were prepared for the first day of school. Another year of fun and learning is now underway for the children of HEARTH, and we look forward to seeing all they do this school year!
