Founders Breakfast Celebrates Legacy, Community—and a Life-Changing Gift

On the morning of June 4th, HEARTH held a meaningful Founders Breakfast, bringing together the incredible individuals who started this mission, current board members, dedicated supporters, and staff. It was a morning filled with celebration and gratitude.

As stories were shared and old friendships reunited, the energy in the room was joyful and full of purpose. We heard from those who were there in the beginning—those who believed that mothers and children escaping domestic violence and homelessness deserved not only shelter, but support, dignity, and a true path forward. Thirty years later, their vision continues to thrive.

But the morning didn’t end there. After breakfast, attendees gathered outside for a surprise moment none of us will forget.

In partnership with Drive On 412 and thanks to one of HEARTH’s most generous donors, we were able to present a vehicle to one of our incredible HEARTH families. The donor—who was present to celebrate and personally pass on the keys—first gifted the car to Drive On 412, who then ensured it made its way into the hands of a family at HEARTH.

Tas, a mother of four, came to HEARTH after surviving trauma and abuse. With safety now surrounding her and her children, she is focused on healing and rebuilding her life. Her strength and resilience have inspired us all—and so has the voice of her young daughter, who, upon arriving at HEARTH said, “I knew this place was gonna be good. I could feel it in my spirit.”

Until now, Tas faced overwhelming challenges transporting her children to childcare and school while also working full time. Without reliable transportation, each day was a logistical struggle. But with this gift—a donated vehicle—her life has been transformed.

Now, she can confidently drive to work, drop her kids off at school and daycare, and continue moving forward toward stability and independence. With tears in her eyes, Tas shared that she “can’t thank HEARTH enough for the daily support to continue healing and growing.”

This powerful moment reminded all of us why HEARTH exists. Our mission is not just about housing—it’s about hope, safety, and creating space for families to dream again.

To our founders: thank you for planting the seeds.
To our supporters: thank you for nurturing them.
To our families: thank you for showing us what courage looks like.

Together, we are building a community where every mother and child has a safe place to call home.
