At HEARTH we believe that every parent deserves to know they are doing a great job – especially on Mother’s Day. This year, to help our families appreciate and enjoy the day, we gave HEARTH’s moms the opportunity to celebrate themselves with a Floral Arrangement Workshop. The workshop – also called a BloomShop – was hosted by Serenity Bloom.
Brandi, the owner of Serenity Bloom, created a wonderful atmosphere for our moms to create their beautiful floral pieces. Brandi provided all attendees with the flowers and vases they needed to create their own arrangements – and was also on-site to offer guidance and answer questions. With her help, our moms worked on their own floral arrangements and creations for almost two hours.
BloomShop was all about the moms, and we made sure of it by ensuring childcare was provided during the event! HEARTH volunteers and members of our Young Professionals Board (YPB) came together to make sure our moms’ children had their own evening of activities to enjoy.
The YPB especially made sure the kids had a great evening and could participate in Mother’s Day. First, they donated food from Texas Roadhouse; then, they donated items for the kids to create Mother’s Day gifts during their own gift-making workshop! This turned out to be a special and exciting part of the evening:
“I heard a lot of, ‘I get to pick gifts for my mom?!’ in so much excitement. It was a really wonderful evening for all HEARTH families!” – Morgan Cable, Community Engagement Coordinator at HEARTH
At the end of the event, our families were able to pick out their own gift bag and purse with goodies donated by local community groups. We’re so appreciative to those who made these final gift items possible:
- Mother’s Day Gift Bags
- Filled With: Snacks, chocolate and everyday items
- Donated by: P.E.O. Philanthropic Educational Organization – Pittsburgh Chapter
- Mother’s Day Purses
- Filled With: Snacks, chocolate, and everyday items (plus, moms got to keep the purse!)
- Donated by: Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church
Together, our volunteers, staff, and community supporters ensured that HEARTH’s moms could enjoy Mother’s Day in a stress-free, healing environment. We are grateful to everyone who helped to support our moms this year, and we thank them for donating materials, items, food, and time alike!
