It takes a village

We will never be able to move forward if we choose to leave families behind

Volunteers are a vital part of that village. Whether behind the scenes, in children’s programming, or through direct support, volunteers help create a place where families can heal, grow, and thrive.

At HEARTH, we walk alongside mothers and children as they rebuild their lives after homelessness, trauma, and housing instability. Healing and stability don’t happen alone – it takes a community showing up with care, consistency, and intention.

Individual Opportunities

Support the day-to-day needs that help HEARTH run smoothly.

Individual volunteers play an important role in keeping our spaces organized, welcoming, and ready for families.

Opportunities may include:

  • Assisting with office needs and administrative projects
  • Cleaning and organizing shared community spaces
  • Organizing donations in our HEARTH Store

Great for individuals looking for flexible, ongoing ways to give back.

02

Group Volunteer Opportunities

Perfect for corporate teams, university groups, and community organizations looking to make an impact together.

Group projects help us maintain and improve the spaces our families call home. Projects may include:

  • Building furniture and preparing apartments for new families
  • Painting and beautifying indoor spaces
  • Organizing storage areas and common spaces
  • Outdoor projects like gardening, landscaping, and play area upkeep

These opportunities are ideal for team-building while making a meaningful difference.

Children & Family Programming

Help create safe, engaging, and supportive spaces for children while their caregivers focus on personal growth and stability.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Monday Night Childcare (supporting children during parent programming)
  • After-School Program (homework help, activities, and play)
  • Leading enrichment activities like art, music, wellness, or movement

This is a hands-on opportunity to build connections and be a consistent, positive presence in a child’s life.

Family Support & Mentorship

Walk alongside a family as they work toward stability and independence.

We welcome volunteers who are passionate about supporting others through encouragement, skill-building, and connection.

Ways to get involved:

  • One-on-one life coaching or goal-setting support
  • Career and professional development (resume building, job readiness, etc.)
  • Peer mentorship, especially for those with shared or similar lived experiences
  • Providing transportation to moms when in need
  • Help a family move

This is a deeper level of engagement for those looking to make a lasting impact.
