Drive On and HEARTH Partner to Gift Life-Changing Vehicle to Local Mother

Drive On Pittsburgh gives vehicle to HEARTH resident

A Journey of Resilience and Community Support

HEARTH, in partnership with Drive On, celebrated a powerful moment of generosity and perseverance today as Qwontajah, a dedicated mother of four, received a reliable vehicle that will help transform her family’s future.

The event, held on February 6, 2025, marked the culmination of a community-driven effort to provide transportation to a mother working tirelessly to provide for her children. Qwontajah moved to Pittsburgh so her three-year-old daughter could receive a second liver transplant. Despite facing significant challenges, she has remained steadfast in her commitment to her family and career, recently launching her journey as a personal trainer.

As she accepted the keys, Qwontajah expressed her overwhelming gratitude, saying, “I still can’t believe it. This is life-changing.”

Community Generosity in Action

The vehicle was donated by a long-time HEARTH supporter and repaired by Drive On, a nonprofit dedicated to providing no-cost car repairs and vehicles to those in need.

John from Drive On, shared his excitement for the impact this donation will have on Qwontajah’s life, saying, “It’s a great car—we made the necessary repairs, cleaned it up, and ensured it’s reliable. It will be perfect for you and your kids. We’re so happy we could do this for your family.”

HEARTH’s CEO, Christy Pietryga, highlighted the deeper significance of this gift: “For a mother balancing work, medical appointments, and the daily needs of her children, reliable transportation is the key to self-sufficiency. We are thrilled to celebrate Qwontajah’s hard work and resilience.”

How You Can Help
